Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade | New York City Travel Vlog

Enjoy the 91st Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City!

This footage was filmed on a very cold Thanksgiving morning from Columbus Circle. The final video focuses upon the highlights of the parade with an emphasis upon the balloons and floats. Watch all the way to the end for the appearance of Santa Claus!

Before we traveled to New York, we did our homework and found multiple online sources recommending Columbus Circle. To our dismay, we discovered that the outer part of the circle was closed off to the actual parade route. We look forward to revisiting New York to film the Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Parade from a different angle.

I was in the beginning stages of learning videography when I took this footage. Currently when I record, I do not use the zoom as much within the same shot, and I maintain stronger camera stability. Some of the camera shaking, however, was due to the cold! We were standing in that area for at least two hours before the parade started, believing we were securing a great vantage point for ourselves.

We’re looking forward to making another video of the parade! In the meantime, we hope that you enjoyed this video! Thank you everyone for your support.

  1. Normally I have good camera control, but it was so cold (especially after standing in one place to reserve our spots), that I was shivering. Apologies for the occasional camera shake!

    1. We love them, too! My wife and I are looking forward to watching it tomorrow morning, but this time from the comfort of home. It’s supposed to be a record or near-record low temperature in New York. We’re planning to return one year to record the parade from a better vantage point. BTW, I’ll be producing a few more videos from our time in New York sometime in the near future. Thank you for watching–and Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂

    1. Thank you! I’ve yet to begin any shopping, but I’m looking forward to a nice feast tomorrow (thanksgiving)! 😀
