  1. Hey guys! If you ever come to Germany, I would absolutely recommend the BallinStadt museum in Hamburg. It deals with the emigration from Hamburg starting in the 16th century all the way up to today and the emigration from Hamburg to the US, if I remember correctly, makes up the lion’s share of the whole thing. I was there once on a school trip in seventh or eighth grade, around sevenish years ago, and I found it really fascinating. Maybe that would complete Melanie’s experience of stepping in her grandmother’s footsteps when it comes to this part of her life and Bremen is only two hours away by train too. And perhaps you’d have more luck finding out about their ancestry over here.

  3. I dont know anything about my father’s side however I know that on my moms side , her moms side came originally from Scotland in the 1600s . The same kind of story on her dads but they were Welsh and english. I too can trace my ancestry back far to 1347 near Somerset England. Last year my husband got a DNA test for me and it just confirmed my ancestry.
