    1. Unfortunately, I only saw the airport of N.Y. I was shocked to see some very very fat black policemen. They were very friendly, though. In Europe you rarely see people as obese as in the US. I was also surprised to see that people could drink water from their fridge because it had a faucet inside.

    2. Here Be Barr The more _Here Be Barr_ videos I watch, the less anxious I’m becoming about visiting New York City next year, Jon.

  2. A black lady with 3 kids on the subway is wailing away at the biggest kid who looks like he had a transgression, he looks like Roberto Duran covering up his face as his mom pounds at him, she turns around to look at me and says…”you wanna buy him, I’ll sell him to you”….Roberto Duran looks at me and you can see real fear on his face now. I smiled, I knew I was home.

I was born a block from Fr. Demo Square right where you are standing. Banana Republic opened their first, it was a real survival store, not the trendy fashion place. 25 Downing Street was my first official address circa 1958

  3. Any advise for travelling to new york I December please? Never been before and looming at going this year at the first week of December.. and tips on where to stay or cheaper places to stay at that time of year and any way to save at that time of year will be great thanks..

    1. Scroll through my NY Tips Playlist (linked below in description) i covered tons of topics like that.

  4. Thanks for another great video. Our shock upon visiting NYC was the refutation of two stereotypes: 1) city that never sleeps, 2) one of the most crowded city. We stayed in May in Midtown were business officcess dominate ane each eating place (including starbucks etc.) was dead around 5 pm 🙂 Neither this neighborhood nor Times Square were as crowded as Istanbul or even Prague during peak season 🙂 Maybe during summer and Christmas its different.

    1. We were joking as we filmed this.. hmmm how are we going to find a noisy place to show what’s going on.. oh wait here come some cop cars.

  5. Nothing shocking there. I love NYC despite some of the things you mentioned and because of other things you mentioned. Greatest place on earth.

  6. I’ve been to New York twice and I love it … I would say most New Yorkers are friendly in the main .. certain people with official status can be very rude .. eg buying tickets at penn station.”” The thing I dislike the most in New York or USA is the tipping culture.” I had some shocking service but they were so quick to point out how much we should tip after meals … here in the uk tipping is only given if you’re satisfied etc “””

    1. Agreed, they need to pay service staff more money to off-set it. Of course tipping does generally leave to better service b.c they need to be better to make tip.. of course that’s just my opinion, but i’ve always found the best service at restaurants in the U.S.A. But many time it’s “fake nice”.
